We help cannabis entrepreneurs succeed.
Things we believe to be true….
Operating and growing a profitable business is hard AF.
A lot of first-time cannabis entrepreneurs lack the proper visibility to understand how their company is performing.
Most first-time business owners lack the data to make the right decisions for developing or expanding their business.
Our mission is to empower cannabis entrepreneurs to succeed by arming them with the same tools used by leading startups.
Building a cannabis business is hard in and of itself, operating at a healthy profit adds another layer of difficulty that can overwhelm founders—oftentimes causing them to fail. This is where we come in to help guide founders to be better operators.
What we do
We start by helping them gain a better understanding of the economic levers behind the success of their business. We work together to analyze historical data to build financial forecasts for their business, and we teach them how to use these tools to make the best strategic decisions. These forecasts then serve as operational roadmaps for the next month/quarter/year, and along the way we continuously diagnose and identify areas of opportunity to improve and streamline operations to gain efficiencies. We do all this in a way that can be easily understood and applicable to any operator, and we pride ourselves on teaching our clients to fish, as opposed to just serving up a gorgeous trout. Once our work is done, we offer our clients continued support —sort of like an unofficial advisory board.
About Us
From careers in venture capital backed technology startups to helping cannabis entrepreneurs build better companies. Esteban and Juan met five years ago at a venture capital-backed company in Los Angeles. Their nerdy obsession for all things business, operations, and finance—and of course cannabis—along with the opportunity to help cannabis founders, led them to build Jamu.
They have 30-plus years of combined experience building, leading, operating and advising companies.
Esteban is a seasoned operations and finance leader, who has led numerous companies in the role of Chief Financial Officer and was one of the original thought leaders pushing for startups to focus on unit economics.
Juan has founded and operated three companies, navigated fundraising $17 million from prestigious investors and worked at a venture accelerator investing and advising more than 80 early stage startups.
What Our Clients Say About Us
We found Jamu through a friend, and after the initial consult we knew we found someone who really understood our goals — and knew how to get us there better than we did. Breaking down our day to day, harvest to harvest expenses and needs into a business model shed a new light on how our business was performing. In fact, we met with Jamu because we were in talks with a potential investor. By the time we finished working with Juan, we learned that we actually didn’t need to take one on! To quote the founder, “Ain’t math great?!” - Esoteric Farmer
